From Aap to Kem Cho: Easy Gujarati Greetings for Kids
Learning how to greet people in Gujarati is a great first step for kids starting the language. Gujarati is spoken by millions in India and around the world, and the greetings are both respectful and fun to say!
Meet and Greet—Gujarati Style
Here are a few words every kid should know:
- Kem cho? – How are you? (casual)
- Majama! – I’m good!
- Namaste – Hello (used in many Indian languages)
- Aap kaise ho? – How are you? (formal)
“Kem cho, papa?” is a great way for a child to greet their dad in Gujarati!
Activities for Friendly Learning
Greeting Puppet Show
Create finger puppets and have them “talk” in Gujarati! Kids can practice saying “Namaste” and “Kem cho” with each character.
Greeting Circle Game
Sit in a circle. One child greets another using a Gujarati phrase. The next person responds and greets someone new. Keep it going around!
In Dinolingo’s Gujarati course, children aged 2–14 learn greetings through real-life scenes, songs, and games. Each phrase is repeated in context, making it easy for kids to remember and use.
With printables, flashcards, and mobile access, families can practice Gujarati greetings at home or on the go on web, iOS, or Android.
