Fashion from the Past—Persian Words You’ll Love

Persian culture is famous for its stunning designs, colorful fabrics, and rich history of fashion. From royal robes to everyday wear, Persian clothing has always told a story. For kids learning the language, fashion is a fun and visual way to explore Persian words and traditions.

Traditional Clothing and Their Names

In Persian, clothing words are both beautiful and useful. Here are a few that kids will enjoy:

  • Lebâs – Clothes
  • Kolâh – Hat
  • Shalvâr – Pants
  • Pirâhan – Shirt or dress
  • Châdor – A long piece of cloth traditionally worn by women
  • Jâmegi – Old-fashioned word for clothing or attire

These words are often heard in stories, old photographs, or even fairy tales!

Fun Language Activities

Design a Persian Outfit

Invite kids to draw and label their own traditional Persian outfit. They can use the words they just learned and add colors, patterns, and even glitter.

Dress Up and Learn

Have a “fashion day” where children wear different styles of clothing from around the world. When it’s time for Persian outfits, teach them to say pirâhan or kolâh as they try them on.

Fashion vocabulary is just one of many fun themes explored in Dinolingo’s Persian for Kids course. With videos, songs, and games, kids ages 2–14 can learn everyday words and cultural terms at their own pace. The platform is designed for all age groups, with special content for pre-readers, elementary learners, and middle schoolers.
