Horses eat a lot—up to 25 pounds of hay or grass every day! They also drink more than 10 gallons of water each day. That’s a big appetite! No wonder they have so much strength and energy.

While their main meals are simple, horses love a few tasty treats now and then. If you’ve ever been near a horse, you might have seen one happily munching on an apple, a carrot, or even a small lump of sugar.

How Long Do Horses Live?

With good care, horses can live to be 25 to 30 years old. During that time, they often build strong bonds with the people who care for them. Horses are smart, gentle, and often very playful. Some can even learn tricks and understand human emotions.
