Say “Æ, Ø, Å”! Cool Norwegian Letters Kids Will Love

Some letters in Norwegian look like they came from outer space but they’re actually fun and easy to say! Meet Æ (aeh), Ø (uh), and Å (oh). These three unique letters are part of what makes Norwegian such a special language to explore.

Let’s Sound Them Out

Norwegian has 29 letters, and these three come at the very end of the alphabet. Each one has its own unique sound:

  • Æ (pronounced like “cat” but longer)
  • Ø (a mix of “uh” and “er”)
  • Å (like “awe”)

Practice saying them with silly faces and big voices—it helps kids remember!
