Say It While You See It—Persian Building Words
Kids love learning words they can point to in real life and Persian is full of fun, easy vocabulary for places we see every day. From homes to hospitals, learning these words helps kids make real-world connections to a rich, beautiful language.
Common Buildings in Persian
Here are some everyday places and how to say them in Persian:
- خانه (khāneh) – house
- مدرسه (madreseh) – school
- بیمارستان (bimārestān) – hospital
- کتابخانه (ketābkhāneh) – library
- مسجد (masjed) – mosque
- مغازه (maghāzeh) – shop/store
- رستوران (resturān) – restaurant
You might even spot a برج (borj) – tower, or a پارک (pārk) – park!
Activities That Make It Stick
Neighborhood Hunt
Go on a walk (or take a pretend one at home!) and call out the Persian names of places you see. Try to spot a madreseh or a resturān!
Build a Town in Words
Using blocks or paper, kids can build a tiny town and label each place in Persian. Add a house, school, shop—even a کتابخانه!
In Dinolingo’s Persian course for ages 2–14, kids explore building words through stories, games, and picture-based practice. It’s available on iOS, Android, and desktop and comes with printable activities to bring the words offline too.
Learning Persian doesn’t have to happen at a desk—it can happen on a walk around the block!
